Watch a parade, see who won the perfect pie contest, line up to ride Spin Out, watch a thrilling barrel race, attend a first-rate concert, nosh on a funnel cake, see a Bengal Tiger up close, and snap a pic of your child giggling with delight on the Dragon Wagon. This annual fair is a blast! The Fair is held at the Tri-State Exhibition grounds.
Every Labor Day weekend you can enjoy all sorts of rodeo fun at the Boys Ranch located about 36 miles northwest of Amarillo on US 385.
Good Times Celebration Barbecue Cook-Off
Over a hundred teams compete for best bbq honors at this yearly event, and over 7,000 attendees enjoy the fruits of their labor along with live music and a great time! The event is held in downtown Amarillo.

Amarillo National Center at the Tri-State Fairgrounds is the venue for the annual Coors Cowboy Club Ranch Rodeo. Visitors to the annual fest enjoy WRRA World Finals rodeo events, along with a chili cook-off, a ribfest and a rodeo dance. Over a hundred vendors are available for shopping at Cowboy Christmas.
This yearly hot air balloon fest is held at Palo Duro Canyon National Park and John Stiff Park. Your whole family can enjoy beautiful balloon glows and marvel at the sight of balloon launches.
NOV
World Championship Ranch Rodeo
This rodeo is the real deal, offering more than 20 ranch teams, real cowboys and cowgirls, and exciting action. Sponsored by the Working Ranch Cowboys Association and held for over 15 years, the rodeo is held at the Amarillo Civic Center.
DEC
Every December, the Lone Star Ballet performs this favorite classic, accompanied by the Amarillo Symphony. The Amarillo Civic Center creates a fine venue for the ballet; start a family tradition your children will never forget by buying tickets for one of the performances.
Panhandle Plains Historical Museum offers an annual free Open House featuring holiday music and crafts, cookie decorating and visits from Santa.
Amarillo Botanical Gardens welcomes you to its annual holiday celebration for a week in December. You can browse the gardens and enjoy Christmas music; it is an evening event.
MULTI-MONTH EVENTS
Year-Round – The Galleries at Sunset Center celebrate the first Friday of each month with an open house of over 50 fine art studios and galleries for you to browse.
June-August – Head to Palo Duro Canyon to watch this live musical drama unfold before your eyes at the beautiful Pioneer Amphitheatre. For 45 years, actors have entertained visitors with song and dance, and TEXAS is now known as the state’s Official Play! This is definitely a family-friendly activity.
June-August – Amarillo Botanical Gardens opens its lovely landscape to music lovers Thursday evenings during the summer. Relax and soak in the natural beauty while you listen to the entertainment.
June-August – Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department offers a Starlight Theater concert series on summer evenings at Sam Houston Park. Families enjoy these free events featuring local talent. Check the website for dates.
August-September – Adequan Select is the AQHA World Championship Show, held annually in Amarillo. The show is open only to amateur exhibitors aged 50+ and the venue is the Amarillo National Center.
